Web Authoring and Multimedia

I have been actively developing web pages since 1996. Over that time I have developed my skills embracing new technologies and concepts. I have produced both static sites, in various versions of HTML3, HTML4 and XHTML. I have created dynamic sites utilising ASP and PHP scripting, focusing primarily on the later and incorporating database integration through MySQL.

I am also experienced with technologies such as Flash, Director, Java and JavaScript, and use them when appropriate to add interactivity to web sites, or to create standard alone multimedia projects. In addition to which I have a special interest in developing for mobile and am familiar with WML and XHTML-MP.

The Rehab Agency Ltd

My current employer, Rehab is a full service creative agency specialising in Branding.

I am the in house web developer, and am responsible for most of the company's web work.

Output varies from small static sites to larger CMS driven sites, as well as a range of web based applications such as a Web to SMS to gateway (utilising XML data exchange) and a bespoke content managements system.

In addition to web developing, I am responsible for the company's ICT infrastructure, including a Windows Small Business Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003.

TXTtool Browser Screen Shot

TXTtool

TXTtool is a web to SMS (text message) gateway, designed primarily for bulk messages.

It is built in PHP and utilises XML to communicate with a communications provide. Sent messages and delivery status are recorded in a mySQL database.

The libraries developed for this project have been used for other projects since, such as sending automated calendar reminders users via SMS.

This service requires a login, and can be demonstrated on request

UCLAN LGBT Browser Screen Shot

UCLAN LGBT Society

UCLAN Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Society is a vibrant and colourful community who wanted a a platform to enable their members to share ideas and photos, as well as provide information and news.

I created an easily editable and expandable site using PHP, XHTML and CSS, integrating a phpBB forum and coppermine gallery. Sections such as the newsletter, links and problem pages are database driven allow copywriters with no knowledge of HTML to easily add to the site.

Ballgrab are an international engineering company specialising in offshore mooring connectors, working in competitive industry.

They wanted a clear user friendly site, which looked, smart, clean and professional.

I built this site in XHTML/CSS, using PHP for templating.

I also prepared video suitable for web distribution as part of the site build.

Positive Coaching Browser Screen Shot

Positive Coaching Ltd

Positive Coaching is national lifestyle coaching organisation offering personal and professional coaching on an individual and group basis. They wanted a clean, modern site to reflect this, so I build their website with this in mind.

The site is built XHTML/CSS, utilising a PHP/mySQL based content management system for news and selected page editing which I also designed and coded from scratch.

Additional functionality is added in the form of a flash movie on the front page, and a javascript news ticker.

Paston College Browser Screen Shot

Paston College

Paston College provide post-16 and adult education for North-East Norfolk with a catchment area of around 400 square miles. They required a dynamic easily maintainable site which could grow.

Produced as part of a two person team this is an advanced and dynamic site coded ASP, and employing HTML4 and CSS. Designed with ease of maintenance in mind for in house management.

A complementary and integrated student intranet site was also produced.

Roger Hannant Motor Services is small independent automobile dealership and workshop who were looking to venture into online presence.

For this project I created a static site coded in HTML4 with CSS, and utilises Javascript to provide simple interactivity, setting up the potential for future expansion into online sales.
